Its greatest advantage, thanks to patented solutions, is high mechanical and biological filtration efficiency and ease of use, which allows for long and effective operation without the need for frequent cleaning. The filter is equipped with a 1.5-liter pre-filter that traps larger contaminants, reducing the frequency and need to open the filter for cleaning. Cleaning the pre-filter is extremely simple – just lift the cover, remove the sponge and rinse it under running water, without having to disassemble the entire device.

The double ball valve system eliminates the problem of water spillage when disconnecting hoses. They simultaneously close the filter inlet and outlet, preventing uncontrolled leakage, and can be replaced individually in the event of damage. An additional convenience is the automatic filter flushing, which means that starting it up requires only a few strokes of the piston.

Inside the filter there are spacious filter baskets (1.9 l each), ensuring effective mechanical and biological filtration. Depending on your needs, in addition to standard fillings such as sponge or ceramic, you can add additional filter media such as activated carbon, zeolite or Purigen.

The entire structure has been designed for quiet operation, and the ceramic rotor shaft minimizes noise, making the filter ideal for bedrooms and offices.

With proper care, Ultramax can operate for up to two years without needing to be opened and cleaned, which translates into great convenience and time savings. It is a reliable solution for any aquarium.

Advice first:

If you plan to breed small fish such as neon tetras, amanda barbs, or shrimp, we recommend purchasing an additional prefilter for the filter inlet.

This pre-filter protects animals from being accidentally sucked into the filter.

The following will work best:

• sponges with a gradation of 30 ppi (very fine mesh),
• steel pre-filters (durable and easy to clean).

Second consultation:

If you plan to stock your tank with a larger number of fish or breed species that are more sensitive to water quality, it is worth replacing standard filter cartridges with better equivalents.

🔹 Filter sponges:
Instead of the default included sponges with gradation 20 ppi, we recommend using sponges with a gradation of 40 ppi – i.e. with finer mesh. Such a sponge:

• more effectively catches small debris, such as feces or detritus (dead plant fragments),
• improves water clarity,
• increases the effectiveness of biological and mechanical filtration.

🔹 Ceramic insert:
Instead of the basic ceramic from the set, it is worth using a more porous material, e.g. Qualdrop Prime Pore. Thanks to its larger biological surface area, it promotes the growth of beneficial nitrifying bacteria responsible for the decomposition of harmful nitrogen compounds.
